On Nov. 2, Bellator will be airing their heavyweight and featherweight tournament semi-finals on MTV 2. The prelim and post TV fights include one of the top heavyweight fighters in the northern California region Josh Appelt (7-2). He is set to fight Ed Carpenter (5-3), but Appelt was originally scheduled to fight in the UFC feeder organization Tachi Palace Fights against Freddie Aquitania of Team Alpha Male. That in itself was an accomplishment for Appelt, but the move to Bellator has him that much more motivated to continue his winning ways.
"Tachi (Palace) would have been a big show, but now Bellator is an even bigger show," MMAGOLD sponsored Appelt told SR (www.srmma.com). "Now I just want to perform at the peak of my abilities and give it everything I got."

Appelt's move to Bellator isn't surprising consider the fact that all of his three fights in the current winning streak have ended by knockout, and all but one of his victories have come by finishing his opponents. Appelt's training at Huckaba's MMA, with fighter Dave Huckaba and team, has helped to hone his once simply powerful hands into a more refined finishing machine inside the cage. The physical attributes of Appelt's large frame are meaningless without the right mental preparations needed to truly showcase his power, but this mindset is something that Appelt said he not only possess, but it has helped spur his run toward to top of the sport.
"I think it's just been that I put on great shows for the fans, I'm not a boring heavyweight," Appelt told SR (www.srmma.com). "I can't really tell you what I'm going to do, but if the knockout's there I'm going to take it."
