BCF promotions along with LTD productions presented 'The Art of War' kickboxing event in Sacramento, CA on Sep 28. The event hosted 20 plus bouts during the evenings card, with the main event having IKF West Coast bantamweight title implications for unbeaten Kristine Ferea (entered 4-0) and Cat Feeley (entered 5-0). The fight eventually went all five rounds with Ferea winning the title via unanimous decision, something Ferea feels will give her unwavering confidence in the future.
"I don't even know what to feel right now," Ferea told SR (www.srmma.com). "Years of hard work have paid off. Believing in myself, I believe in myself for sure now. If I had any doubts before, it's gone."
Ferea was the aggressor from the start, landing combinations as Feeley looked for the clinch in round one. Feeley pushed hard in the second round to land more consistently, but was countered effectively by Ferea. The third round was most likely the closest round with Feeley landing several knees from the clinch that showed the will of Ferea to push forward, something she knew would happen coming into the fight.

Hunter (L) landing a kick to the mid-section of Carlos (R).
"I knew it was going to be the hardest fight of my life," Ferea told SR (www.srmma.com). "This was a true test of my heart and how much of a warrior I am."
Ferea used her movement around the ring to keep Feeley from planting her feet and teeing off, landing stiff counter punches in route to her title victory. Another female fight on the card was between Ramona Carlos and Morgan Hunter (of Knuckles Fitness). After a first round of cleaner and more crisp punches being landed by Hunter, the corner of Carlos threw in the towel during the second round just before the referee stepped in to stop the bout by TKO.
"It felt awesome," Hunter told SR (www.srmma.com). "I just wanted to get in there and make it a quick night. That's what I did, and it felt good."
Hunter (gloves) with Coach Jones.
Hunter felt that the gloves she used were more suited to her hands than the larger gloves she had used before, this helped her land bountiful right hands in the second round. These were the shots that had Carlos cornered and unable to successfully answer with punches of her own. This is something Hunter believes will be her advantage moving forward as a fighter in the female ranks.
"A lot of girls don't like to stand and bang," Hunter told SR. "I love to stand and bang."
