       Former lightweight titlist Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 22 KO's), of Oxnard in California, took on the previously unbeaten Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23 KO's). The bout was a back and forth slugging man's affair with Rios landing 161 total punches according to Compubox versus Alvarado's 175 total shots, but it was Rios' ability to land thirty-three percent of his power shots that eventually earned him the TKO victory on October 14, 2012.
