ART OF WAR RESULT: CASTRO OUTLASTS CULBRETH TO WIN FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

       Donaliz Castro was crowned the new women's Art of War Featherweight Champion after an intense bout against Arlene Culbreth. Castro explained her mindset following the tough first round and how she was able to recover and emerge victorious.
“Well at first I was just trying to read her, see what she had coming at me," Castro said to SR (www.srmma.com) post fight. "She hit me with some power shots, so I just came back.”

       They began the first round with furious exchanges that saw Culbreth land several heavy shots. Castro seemed to struggle in the first round, having struggles with Culbreth's power. It was a different story in the last two rounds of the fight as Castro finally found her rhythm, landing combinations coupled with two submission attempts to counter Culbreth's second round take down attempts. A plethora of leg kicks from Castro was the story of the third round. Culbreth seemed to tire towards the end of the fight. Castro landed several unanswered combinations while Culbreth resorted to more looping punches that found their mark less often. Castro overcame Culbreth's power with speed and precision, ultimately claiming a unanimous decision and the Featherweight crown.
