Justin "The Raw Deal" Baesman (now 10-3) took on Kito Andrews in defense of his welterweight title during the main event of the evening, the fight was to cap off the West Coast Fighting Championship (WFC) 'Resolution' card.
"I'm good, I'm relaxed. I trained hard and I'm ready," Baesman told Matthew (www.srmma.com). "I was here for his last fight. I know he likes to go for the take downs. I watched his stand up, he doesn't like to bang too much. But he's a good fighter. It will be a good fight."
BAESMAN (LEFT) AND ANDREWS (RIGHT) SQUARE OFF ROUND ONE.
Andrews was able to pull out the first round submission victory over Baesman, snapping his four fight win streak, after a fast exchange followed by a big slam. Baesman came out of the opening bell with two solid leg kicks, landing flush with the thigh. Both exchanged maneuvers while clinched against the cage, throwing knees while they had under hooks on each other. The end came 1:36 into the first round after Andrews charged forward and landed a quick series of punches. He then picked up Baesman and slammed him to the mat with a double leg take down. Referee Josh Rosenthal stepped in to stop the fight, at first to some confusion.
ANDREWS TAKING BAESMAN DOWN AFTER BIG SHOT
"I didn't really know what the hell was going on," Andrews told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com) post fight. "I think, to my recollection, I faked the right, showed the right, then came around with the hook and I was going to throw another one. But (Baesman) was already in the back of the cage and that's when I shot in with the double (leg take down)."
Upon further review, it appeared that Baesman was rocked from one of the punches that Andrews (MMAGOLD sponsored) landed before the take down. While Baesman was dazed on the mat with Andrews on top, he tapped out (consciously or not) before Rosenthal called a stop to the bout. The official result was declared a submission due to strikes.
"I was trying to put him through the bottom of the floor," Andrews told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "When I hit him I felt him go really limp, and then I felt him tapping on my back and I'm like 'Why is he doing that?'."

ANDREWS IN A SEA OF FANS.
Andrews (now 9-2) was declared the new WFC welterweight champion. He has won seven consecutive bouts as well as his last four victories coming by way of finishing his opponents. Andrews celebrated his new title by going out into the crowd and spending time with the sea of blue shirt wearing fans that came to support him.
"It's a relief," Andrews told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "It's the bitter sweet end to your hard training, everything you put into it."
