       On September 7, Zeth Martin (now 1-1) faced off against David Bollea (now 3-2) at the Tachi Palace Fights 14: Validation. It was clear in the first round that Bollea wanted to see this fight go to the ground, as he attempted many single leg take downs. However, Bollea was never able to get a firm hold of a leg, and Martin repeatedly stuffed the take downs while landing on the mat in top position. Martin backed out of Bollea's guard to keep the fight standing. 

MARTIN(TOP) POUNDING OUT THE WIN

"We know he's a wrestler and a jiu jitsu guy, so we've been practicing a long time for my wrestling base and my take down defense," Martin told Matthew (www.srmma.com) post-fight. "We wanted to keep it standing as long as possible."
      Martin kept his punches straight and clean, dropping Bollea near the end of the first round with a one-two combination. Martin pursued Bollea to the ground, maintaining top position as Bollea scrambled to escape, while landing vicious ground and pound. It was a close call for Bollea, as he was on the wrong side of a back mount when the horn sounded.

        The second round saw Martin throwing a barrage of kicks, one of which landed with Bollea's head, dropping him. Swarming in for the finish, Martin threw punches as he transitioned from side control to full mount, where he finished Bollea with elbows just 59 seconds of round two. Martin credits his victory to his teams at Valley Fight Club and Synergy Jiu Jitsu. We can expect a short hiatus from Martin before he attempts to form a win streak, as he adjusts to his new family life now that his family expanded just after the fight.  
"I got a baby due in two days, so I might be taking like a month off," Zeth Martin told Matthew (www.srmma.com) post-fight.
