The Mile-high city of Denver, CO will host the UFC
150 card headlined by the lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson taking on Frankie “The Answer” Edgar in an immediate rematch for the title. A rematch is usually enticing especially
if there was no clear finish the first time around. Henderson must be prepared for any
adjustments made to Edgar's game plan following their first fight after a loss that hurt Edgar inside.
"Everywhere I go they call me champ, you get used to it," Edgar said. "I don't want people to stop calling me champ, to lose that belt hurt."
Henderson was successful in landing the much more significant power
strikes throughout the first affair. While Edgar was left banking in
points with short combinations. Henderson seems to carry a reach, strength
and power advantage on the feet. Edgar scored a few take downs, but
nothing came of them as Henderson was still able to continue firing
off body kicks and straight left hands at the kid from the Jersey
Shore. Nothing should change much in this
fight in comparison to the first. “Smooth” will be the much
stronger, more technical fighter hitting Edgar with body shots and
controlling much of the ground game from top position. Henderson did
an exceptional job of staying in control of the octagon throughout
the first affair. “Smooth” cut the cage off and baited Edgar
into his power shots time and time again. Edgar may try to use even
more footwork to dart in and out of Henderson's range with quick
combinations, but this fight will most likely go to the judges. And,
once again, Henderson takes a unanimous decision by
frustrating Edgar with power shots and staying in control of the
octagon, and the Lightweight Championship.
