"I want to fight Anderson Silva. I want my shot," Bisping told TheScore.com. " Am I saying I'm going to beat him? I don't know. I know I'll give him a bloody good fight and when I retire and I'm done, I want to say I had my shot at the belt."

According to Dana White, UFC middleweight champion and possibly greatest mixed martial artist of all time, Anderson Silva will not be seen in the octagon until next year.
"Anderson said he wants to take some time off until after the end of this year, then we'll start talking to him," White said.
Anderson Silva has built such a win streak and retained the title so long that it may be hard to consider anybody a challenge to his title. And while it is disappointing that we won’t see him perform anytime soon, now is a good time for the champ to take a break as the division sorts itself out. In the wake of Silva vs Sonnen II, the draw of another Silva fight in the same year simply wouldn’t compare. Sonnen was the last fighter in a long time to dominate Silva for any number of rounds, spent years hyping the rematch, and smack-talked Silva to his breaking point. After dispatching Sonnen so definitively, the next fighter would have all the hype of what I call “the next dude Anderson’s going to knock out.” However, there are two fighters who have looked promising as potential challengers.

Michael Bisping
..
Bisping was on the verge of a title shot before he lost a controversial decision to Chael Sonnen. With dominant performances against Yoshihiro Akiyama, Jorge Rivera, and Jason Miller, taking the Sonnen fight to decision worked out unfavorably for him. Bisping may only have to suffer a one-fight setback due to this, as all he needs is a decisive victory in his upcoming bout against Brian Stann at UFC 152 to put him in position to challenge Silva.
"Talking about the Chael thing, I thought I won the fight.  Ultimately, it was a close fight, went to him.  Fair play, well done.  I'm not gonna cry about it.  You take it like a man and move on." - Bisping told TheScore.com. "I want to fight Anderson Silva.  I want my shot.  Am I saying I'm going to beat him?  I don't know.  I know I'll give him a bloody good fight and when I retire and I'm done, I want to say I had my shot at the belt."

Chris Weidman

..
Chris Weidman has remained undefeated after a strong showing against Mark Munoz with second round KO. While Weidman’s victory against Munoz shouldn’t be diminished, I don’t believe he has yet shown that he would match up against “The Greatest of all Time.” While he’s shown he can take advantage of opportunities that his opponent gives him, such opportunities are few and far between against Silva but Weidman feels he's ready.
"I've taken a lot of short notice fights against top guys," Weidman said. "I've beaten two top five guys in the world in a row at this point. I'm looking to be a young champion."
