Central Coast Throwdown held their event titled "BAD BLOOD" on August 4, live from Salinas in the bay area of California. JR Lugo was able to claim the heavyweight title by first round knock out, Alexander Lopez earned another victory and Michelle Gama showcased female talent with an early arm bar victory. The main event of the night was a rematch of the twenty second knock out result that JR Lugo (2-0-1 CAMO) earned over Jaime Alvarado (4-2 CAMO) in their first fight. This bout was an even quicker and, according to Lugo, much more decisive victory than that previous match up. Coming into the fight, Alvarado was hopeful to further move into state title contention and was happy to have another big fight on his plate.
"It's my dream come true," Alvarado told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "I want to be number one in Cali(fornia). . . MMA has given me opportunity and I believe things are possible with God, and my faith will carry me through this."

At the weigh ins, the two were in each others face after some words looked to be exchanged. Lugo said the friction came when he attempted to confirm Alvarado's pre fight predictions face to face from the source himself.
"I'm a local boy," Lugo told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "(After the first fight) I was very respectful. . . Then I seen an interview with you (J. Waugh) that he was guaranteeing a knock out and he was making excuses why he didn't win. . . 'You going to knock me out?', I asked him because that's what he said he was going to do. I wanted to know."
In the end, a left hand dropped Alvarado and forced the referee to move in and stop the bout seven seconds into the fight. Alvarado's only two losses have come at the hands of Lugo who later thanked Alvarado for accepting the fight and said he believes a good future is in store for his opponent.
LUGO WITH HIS TITLE.
"It wasn't the fact that it was faster, but no controversy," Lugo told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com) post fight. "I want to thank God for the victory . . . I'm really debating taking that step to the next level already but since they said they might have the state championship for amateurs right here in Salinas that might convince me to stay."
Also on the card was an fan friendly female match up between two debuting fighters, Angie Gaitan-Chairez vs Michelle Gama (Team Kugtar). Chairez felt calm and collected coming into the fight.
GAMA (BLUE) SINKING IN THE ARM BAR.
"I don't feel nervous at all, I'm looking forward to it," Chairez told Matthew (www.srmma.com).
After coming straight forward with strikes and using a trip take down to land in full mount, Gama sunk in an arm bar that forced the first round tap out. Gama was excited for her performance but also for the direction of female athletes in the sport.
GAMA GETTING HER HAND RAISED.
"It felt really good," Gama told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "I just kind of went in there open minded and was going to take whatever I seen. . . I know this is pretty much a man sport but (the fight) shows that us girls are just as tough and we can put on a great show. . . I know women's MMA is growing and I just hope it continues to grow."
Her Kugtar team mate, Alexander Lopez, earned another victory for the Salinas based Team. Lopez was able to sink in a triangle choke to earn his third victory. Lopez took on Anthony Topas and after an early charge forward from his opponent, Lopez swept him with a take down. After a grappling exchange while trying to get back to the feet, it was Lopez who was able to finish the fight with a choke. His record, still undefeated at 3-0 CAMO, is something Lopez says he doesn't care about at all.
LOPEZ (BLUE) TAKING TOPAS BACK.
"Doesn't really mean a lot honestly," Lopez explained to J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "For me it's just knowing that I train hard and that I have the opportunity to come out here and represent. . . Just the pressure of performing in front of your home crowd. It's a lot of pressure bro so I went in there humbled and I represented my Jesus. That's what I do and I came out with the win bro so I couldn't feel happier right now."
