WFC NEWS: ANTHONY RUIZ VS SCOTT SMITH FOR THE TITLE, ANDREWS VS GAINES AS WELL

       West Coast Fighting light heavyweight champion Anthony "A-Train" Ruiz (29-16) has signed to take on Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith (17-10) at the September 8 card named 'Resolution'. The fight will be in defense of Ruiz's WCFC light heavyweight title. This bout will be Ruiz's third straight title fight and his second defense of that title. Ruiz spoke on THE VERBAL SCRAP PODCAST presented by SRMMA about the signing and how excited he is for the upcoming bout.
"Man I'm so pumped," Ruiz said on VERBAL SCRAP. "There's certain guys that will help get you to that next level. I feel like If I beat (Smith) that's just one step closer to the big shots."

       Ruiz is on a four fight winning streak coming into this fight, three of which have come by finish. Smith, a UFC and Strikeforce veteran, is on a four fight skid with his last victory coming by TKO over Cung Le. Smith's recent losses have come against some of the games top opponents including Paul Daley, Tarec Saffedine and Cung Le. Also on the card is a match up between Kito Andrews (8-2) and the former Gladiator Challenge middleweight champion Marcus Gaines (9-19). 

"Actually, as of right now, I just signed with West Coast (Fighting Championship) to fight Marcus Gaines," Andrews said on VERBAL SCRAP. "That's going to be a very exciting fight, we're both original strikers."

       Andrews was originally scheduled to take on WCFC welterweight champion Justin Baesman for the title, but the fight has since been scrapped and this match up has been made. Andrews finished Richard Blake in his last match up, Gaines lost a close decision to Chris Sheridan on June 23. Andrews spoke on THE VERBAL SCRAP PODCAST about the signing and says he is ready to put it all on the line for fans come September 8.
"He's a tough opponent," Andrews said on VERBAL SCRAP. "Win, lose or draw I'm going to go in there and put on a show for the fans."
