"I kept a good base on top," Weidman said. "He was

Mark "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" Munoz (12-3) was defeated by the up and coming, and undefeated, middleweight contender Chris Weidman. The first round saw Weidman surprisingly take Munoz to the mat and stay in the dominant top position for the majority of the round, working many submission attempts that Munoz fended off. Weidman pulled out the first round and in the second he used what he later described as a "Jon Jones" like elbow that he had been training for in the build of to the fight. Just as Munoz was throwing a big right hand, Weidman countered it with a perfectly timed right elbow. Referee Josh Rosenthal gave Munoz every opportunity to get up but he was unable to do so before the fight was stopped in the second round, giving Weidman an unblemished 9-0 record.

"He throws a big right hand," Weidman said of Munoz. "And I wanted to kind of sneak in a right elbow when he was doing that. . . I really want Anderson Silva, I want a shot at that belt."
