       MMA referee Herb Dean spoke to SRMMA about his views on the evolution of the sport from a small time operation to the largest growing sport on the planet. Dean said he was happy to see the growth of mixed martial arts throughout the world.

"My thoughts are it's about time," Dean told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com). "I've always thought it was the best sport on earth. . . and I'm happy to see it taking its rightful place." 

       Dean said that he was pleased with the job the largest organization in the sport, the UFC, was doing to grow the fan base necessary to further expand. With the growth of the sport comes the growth of the names with in, and Dean has officiated almost every where fans have probably seen around the world. UFC, K-1 Heros & King of the Cage being just a few of the organizations Dean has officiated in his over 5,000 careers fights as a referee.

       Dean will also be in Anaheim, CA later this week (July 20-21) for a referee training course that will also have a special treat for those that pass the proper certifications of the classes.
"Those who come out and meet the criteria and make it through the course and pass will actually be part of a live event that we're hosting," Dean told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com).
