Galaxy Fight Night 3 on July 28 saw Kristen Costa (1-0 CAMO) of Galaxy MMA and Twin Cities Wrestling Club have an impressive amateur debut against Kacey Sanders (1-2 CAMO). In the first round, Sanders dominated the clinch, landing knees on Costa's legs and body and pushing him against the cage. Sanders caught Costa with a powerful punch that moved him back a bit, something he discussed after all was said and done.
"He caught me early in the first round with a straight right, that was really the only thing that really got me." - Costa told MattZilla (www.srmma.com) post-fight.
Costa displayed his wrestling in the second round, lifting and dropping Sanders to the mat. From side control, Costa hit hard with knees to the body, before falling into Sanders' guard when trying to transition to mount.
"I've been wrestling since I was twelve years old, wrestled in college.  Wrestling's my thing. I coach at Yuba City High School. Been coaching for the past ten years, so wrestling's kinda my game. I've only been striking for about five weeks, so it's self-explanatory." - Kristen Costa told MattZilla (www.srmma.com) post-fight.

The third round went more in Costa's favor, using a tripping take down to land in side control. This time Costa successfully took the mount and employed his ground-and-pound. Costa was declared winner by unanimous decision. Sanders spoke about the dangers in fighting someone in their debut fight.
"Had a really strong opponent tonight," Sanders told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "He was an 0-0 guy. You take chances fighting and 0-0 guy, you don't know what they're about, you don't know what they're doing. . . I'm a real emotional guy, I take losing really hard. And they made me feel like a winner tonight so I got much love for my Ultimate Street Fighting family."

Armando Sabala (Sanders' trainer at U Street Fighters) also commented on Sanders' performance, saying he was proud of Sanders progression since his start in the sport.
"I thought it went wonderful, I'm very proud of him," Sabala told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "A lot of people don't take Kacey serious because he didn't take fighting serious. But now people can see from today's fight that Kacey is a true fighter. . . I just have so much respect for the guy."
