VILA (R) VS LAZANO (L).
Perform was the plan coming into the June 16 Titan's Cage 3 fight between Angelo Vila (Team Alpha Male) and Johnny Lazano (LA Boxing & MMA), with Vila winning a unanimous decision victory. Vila came out more aggressive from the start, moving forward with punches and landing a few early. Neither fighter looked too often for the take down, searching more to land the powerful punches that can finish a fight. The two spent much of the first two rounds engaged in dirty boxing from the clinch. The third round saw Lazano sink in a guillotine choke attempt that Vila was able to escape from and remain on top to finish out the bout in top position. Vila was excited post fight about his win and explained why the bout involved so much fighting from the clinch.

VILA (R) AFTER HEARING HIMSELF THE VICTOR.
"It feels great. It's my first win," Vila told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com). "It's an incredible feeling right now, I can't describe it. . .but every time I put hands on him he kept clinching up. . . in the clinch he wasn't able to do much. I was able to fend him off and keep the fight in control."

LOPEZ (CAMO SHIRT) POST FIGHT.
Ryan Rubiaco (Team PDF) took on Alexander Lopez (Team Kugtar Academy) in the first bout of the night. Rubiaco looked for the early take down but Lopez's wrestling proved to be difficult to over come early on. Lopez threatened from the bottom with a triangle attempt after eventually being taken down. The first round was close but Lopez seemed very active from his guard. In the second round, the striking advantage of Lopez was clear as it took a sprawl and 56 seconds of time into the round for Lopez to land a left hook that got him the knock out to finish the fight.
"It felt good," Lopez told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com).
"You train hard and then when it happens you don't believe it but it
does. It just happens. . . my coach told me to keep it standing and I
did. I caught him with a good punch and that's what happens."

GRUBER (BLUE) FINISHING THE FIGHT.
"I think I'm more of a counter fighter," Gruber told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com). "I like to have them push the pace a little bit. I'm more on counter punching and counter kicking. If I want to push up the pace I can be more aggressive."
Gruber said that it felt good to have his friends and family in attendance to congratulate him after he landed a three punch combo that ended Tapia's night early, inside the first minute of the fight.
