On June 16th, David Hamilton of Ground Zero Extreme Fighting and Lee Roy Castro of Team Kugtar Academy faced off for the middleweight (185 lbs) title belt at The Titan's Cage 3 show. As the two fighters clashed early on, Castro exhibited excellent head movement, avoiding damage by changing levels and landing low-high boxing combinations. Hamilton moved forward with his aggressive style of striking and move Castro back to the cage after the opening bell. Hamilton continued his attempted assault by throwing a powerful right hand that just missed connecting flush. Castro soon secured the single-leg take down to move the fight to the mat.

"Everybody thinks that I'm a one-trick pony, but I proved today that my boxing is top-notch." - Lee Roy Castro told MattZilla (www.srmma.com) post-fight.
When Hamilton made a move to scramble back to his feet, Castro got hold of his left leg. Hamilton tried to turn and escape but it was already too deep. Hamilton screamed out, seemingly to fight through the pain, but was unable to continue his escape and choose to tap out before sustaining further Achilles injury. The referee stopped the fight due to submission in the first round, declaring Lee Roy Castro the Titan's Cage middleweight champion.

The Titan's Cage 3 also saw Karl Mitchell of Big Dog MMA faced independent fighter Justin McClain in the welterweight (170 lbs) division. Mitchell started the bout with kick-punch combinations. McClain landed some forceful knees in the clinch, but after the break Mitchell ducked under McClain's punches to land several body shots that stunned McClain and had him moving back into the cage.

"When I seen him throwing his punches he had his hand real high, and he's taller than me, so I kinda thought about getting low when he throws his punch and coming around with a hook to the body." - Karl Mitchell told MattZilla (www.srmma.com) post-fight.
Mitchell pursued McClain with a leaping kick and dropped him with an uppercut as he swarmed in for the finish. Karl Mitchell was declared winner by KO just 58 seconds into the first round.
