"Everybody says Muay Thai Lao has no ground," Miguel Neri told MattZilla (www.srmma.com)
post-fight.
| VOLZ (RED), ALEX, JIMMY OF GROUND ZERO. |
"Everybody says Muay Thai Lao has no ground," Miguel Neri told MattZilla (www.srmma.com)
post-fight. "We work a lot off our back. We're not really wrestlers, but when it
gets to the ground, we control."
After the third takedown, Neri quickly scrambled his way up to a sprawl, then caught Volz's head under his arm and pushed him into the cage. Volz didn't tap before he lost consciousness, and the referee stopped the fight in the first round, declaring Neri the winner via standing guillotine submission. Neri was happy with the outcome of his debut amateur fight, though it sounded like he wanted to stand with Volz a bit more. He thanked his trainer Andy Khensamphaph and his team at Muay Thai Lao Kickboxing Academy.
