FALLON (R) VS JOHNSTON (L).
Thomas Fallon (Huckaba's Next Generation) was able to finish "Zeke" Johnston by TKO to become the Huck's Dawgs of War Super Heavyweight Champion in just his third amateur bout on June 22. Fallon spoke about his many fans in attendance last night and what the victory might cause him to do inside the cage.
"I want to make my coach proud. I got about 120 people here," Fallon told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "(If I win) I'll break down and start crying in front of 2,000 plus people. I have no shame, I'll bawl in front of everybody."
Johnston, coming off of his Titan's Cage victory, was brimming with confidence coming into the bout. He spoke of Fallon and his skills but felt his training had him prepared.
JOHNSTON (B) VS FALLON (R).
"I'm going to keep constant pressure," Johnston told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "I'm very confident in my abilities. Thomas is a great fighter or he wouldn't be here. . . We're going to let them fly here and may the best man win tonight."
Johnston came forward aggressive from the start with combinations that landed several times, Fallon was able to counter with his own shots and put Johnston on his back throughout the fight. Johnston landed an early leg kick that seemed to wake Fallon up. He looked to pin Johnston to the cage and use his ankle pick to take him down. In the third round, Fallon was able to land powerful punches that hit Johnston flush, damaging his nose and allowing Fallon to take him to the mat and pound out a victory as the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
FALLON (RED) WITH D. HUCKABA
"It's a dream come true that's all I can say," Fallon told J. Waugh (www.srmma.com). "Everything went good, third round stoppage, I've always wanted to ground and pound somebody and I finally got an opportunity to get that done."
Although Fallon is now the super heavyweight champion, he had no problem talking about the emotional side of winning a title for his father.
"My dad said he's so proud of me," Fallon told Johnny Waugh (www.srmma.com). "Makes me cry every time I talk about it."
