"I don't dislike Nate," White said. "I like Nate very much. We'll see what happens."
What happened was that Strikeforce, now owned by ZUFFA, has signed Nate Marquardt to it's welter weight division instead of middle weight. "UFC Tonight" reported the news on it's Tuesday edition on FUEL TV.
(CONTINUED)...
Although he was denied a fighter's licence in the state of Pennsylvania in June of last year, he has gotten passed those issues and is looking to fight as soon as possible since his last win was over Dan Miller at UFC 128. Strikeforce's welter weight does not have a large pool of big named fighters and this will quickly boost the UFC's sister promotion. Marquardt was recently signed with BAMMA out of the UK, but the organization was unable to provide an opponent on two separate occasions and the two parties went their different ways. Marquardt has an opportunity to jump right into the welter weight title picture since the recently busted Nick Diaz vacated the title and signed with the UFC. Tyron Woodley is the most interesting match up that comes to mind for Marquardt now that he has a chance to use his larger size to muscle around lighter opponents. Woodley has made a habit of over powering his adversaries and establishing his control, but Marquardt's wrestling background should be a huge challenge for the young contender. This is a huge step for Marquardt and Strikeforce moving forward.
