Browne (Left) vs Kongo (Right)
After watching Chieck Kongo fight Matt Mitrione at UFC 137UFC heavyweight Travis Browne spoke with mmajunkie about how unimpressed Browne was with the fight and Kongo's performance.

"I wasn't impressed at all," Browne said.

Even though Kongo handed the 5-0 prospect Mitrione his first professional loss via unanimous decision, Browne saw holes all over the place that he felt he would exploit if given the rematch with Kongo he now so desires.

Browne and Kongo fought each other before at UFC 120 where it was thought that the two would go at each other in an action packed barn burner, it was anything but.

Kongo would have most likely won the decision because of his dominance in the later rounds if not for being penalized a point deduction for continuously grabbing Browne's trunks. The fight ended a draw. This time around Browne said it would be different.

Chris Leben vs Mark Munoz may be the card that is overlooked by many considering the amount of action on cards like UFC 136, 137, and the coming 139 event.

Leben and Munoz have a lot to offer fight fans in the first UFC main event that will go the full five rounds in a non-title bout, but don't look for it to make it all the way to the judges according to Leben.

"When they offered Mark I said, 'that's great, we both throw bombs'," Leben said. "You guys are going to get a main event that you're not going to have to worry about. I promise you a great show."

Although the main event card may not have fans foaming at the mouth and doesn't currently hold any known title implications it will be the first time the UFC is back in England since UFC 120.

Condit was forced from his GSP bout, Didn't "Step Aside"

Carlos Condit's Manager discusses what really went down.

Carlos Condit
After UFC 137 Nick Diaz questioned the legitimacy of GSP and his injury stating that GSP was actually "scared" instead of injured.

Apparently this absolutely angered the UFC welterweight champ GSP according to Dana White UFC President.

"He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met, and he's always exactly the same no matter what the situation is, no matter who he's fighting. Since 2004, I've never seen him like he was tonight. Georges St-Pierre flipped out tonight after Nick Diaz was in the ring, and Nick needs motivation. He's got it. He's going to fight Georges St-Pierre," White said.

White also said that GSP's new opponent was set to be Carlos Condit who was so excited to finally get a chance at the title but Condit graciously "stepped aside" to allow Nick Diaz to take on GSP on Superbowl weekend.

According to Condits manager Malki Kawa, it didn't go down so easily and Condit is extremely disappointed.

Kawa said that "I could understand them coming to us like that," on The MMA Hour. "The issue with the whole 'he decided to step aside,' obviously, that wasn't the case. There was no just stepping aside. There was a little bit more than that. It's going to take more than that. I think we're way more upset with Georges and the way Georges handled it than we are with the way Dana presented it or anything like that."

Angulo vs Kirkland on HBO Fight Preview

Alfredo Angulo to fight James Kirkland NOV. 5

On the horn:
Lead Boxing Writer

This should prove to be as exciting a fight as we've seen in a long time.

Alfredo Angulo (20-1-17 wins via KO) will be putting his #2 ranking on the line against the previously praised but recently exposed James Kirkland (29-1-26 wins via KO) in what will surely be a knock down/drag out affair.

This fight was in the making two years ago but was halted due to a prison stint for a weapons violation by Kirkland followed by his first loss via TKO last April to Nobuhiro Ishida.

The KO  brought into question the chin of Kirkland along with his ability to compete against true boxers.

Since, Kirkland has fought 3rd rate competition to pick up quick wins and still has alot to prove before he can regain his footing in the Junior Middleweight Division.

Angulo will be a big step up for Kirkland with the winner poised to fight for a title.

My money says someone is getting knocked out this Saturday on HBO.

             Enjoy.

Mirko Cro Cop courtesy of UFC.com
Mirko Cro Cop (now 27-10) decided to call it a career last night after his third consecutive KO loss all of which have ended in the third round.

The two exchanged huge shots with Roy Nelson taking Cro Cop down to the mat and landing some ground and pound of the Croation star.

Cro Cop was able to hold Nelson tightly and get back to his feet in the first. Striking, being his clear advantage, was the best opportunity for Cro Cop to finish the fight early in the second round when he unloaded on Nelson who has resided to the cage with both arms protecting his face as Cro Cop threw leather without regard.

"It was awesome to fight with a legend,"  Nelson said. "It's good just to be back in the "W" column. 'Cro Cop' can still tear it up. My game plan was to strike and mix it up so you see a little bit of everything."

Mitrione was too hesitant to get the win

KONGO DOES ENOUGH TO GET THE DECISION

Cheick Kongo (Right)
The co-main event at UFC 137 last night started off with quite a bit of hesitance which probably cost Mitrione the decision.

Cheick Kongo won a unanimous decision by scores of 30-27, 29-27, and 28-27 to improve his record to 17-6 with a 3-0-1 record in his last four fights.

Both fighters were very gun shy at first hoping to see some glitch in the others game that would allow openings to be capitalized upon but neither really took advantage for quite some time.

"He tried to hurt me, but honestly, I was confident," Kongo said. "He's a good puncher, but he didn't hurt me. I was completely OK during the bout. I wanted to see if he could do more. That's why I was a little bit shy about the exchanges in the first two rounds."

3 BIG THNGS we now know after Penn vs Diaz

Nick Diaz defeats B.J. Penn and the rest in now history

"It felt good to be back fighting," Diaz said. "In the second round I turned it on and tried to take him out. Things would have been different if it were five rounds. I would have taken him out for sure in the fourth."

Last night Nick Diaz overcame a first round owned by Penn to batter the former champion and pull out the unanimous decision victory after Penn clearly won the first round but was overwhelmed in the second and third by superior striking and the sheer physical size of Diaz with the judges scoring the bout 29-28, 29-28, 29-27.

The main event was full of excitement and anticipation for the moments yet to come while sitting on the edge of the seat just waiting for one of these two to drop and succumb to the pressure of the other warrior but it was Diaz who beat the smaller Penn into a man with no where else to go in the UFC to truly compete for a title.

“I had a lot of size on him. After that one take down, he went for another one, and I think it took a lot out of him. I sprawled on him and he wasn’t going to do that anymore,” Diaz said. “I think I could have gotten him out of there in the second round. That’s what I was going for. He started going on defense in the third round so that he wouldn’t get finished. I think he knew he wasn’t going to win at that point in time, but B.J. Penn is one of the best there is.”

Diaz vs Penn was awarded fight of the nigh honors which earned both the fighters $75,000 dollars additional to their fight checks.

After 15 minutes of main event action we are left with 3 HUGE THINGS glaring us in the face,

1) Nick Diaz is legit in the UFC

2) BJ Penn has decided to retire

3) DIAZ WILL GET THE NEXT TITLE SHOT! Condit is going to have to wait.
