Mitrione has more Potential than Kongo

But Kongo still might win.

Matt Mitrione
What I see in this fight is a battle between a man who has been around the fight game for a while (Cheick Kongo) and a man who has a lot to prove (Matt Mitrione).

Kongo, who's been an MMA professional since 2001, has a lot of experience behind him.

Mid-level competitors, such as Antoni Hardonk and Pat Barry, have fallen before him.

But top-level guys, like now-champion Cain Velásquez and former-champion Frank Mir, have had no problems handling this kick-boxer.

Kongo has shown the world what he has, and as talented as he is, I don't foresee serious talk of him challenging the title anytime soon.

Mitrione on the other hand, is one of those rising talents who has simply never been tested by a big name in the sport.

He's currently 5-0 in the sport, 4 being knockouts. As decisive and dominant as these wins are, they are not names that immediately illicit respect. Christian Morecraft? Tim Hague? Good fighters, but far from the top of the heap.

Cerrone says Siver has "One Trick", Cerrone Wants Phan

Cerrone feels he is superior to Siver and wants Nam Phan after.

Cerrone feels more than adequate in his coming fight against the German kickboxing machine Dennis Siver who is riding a four fight win streak in the UFC with his most recent performance being a controversial decision victory over Matt Wiman at UFC 132.

"He's dangerous in [every] way – on the ground and in the standup," Siver today told MMAjunkie.com Radio via translator. "Maybe the transitions from wrestling to the standup fight are not so good. That could be a chance for us."

When discussing Siver or "The one-trick pony?" if you listen to Cerrone. "I've just got to either stay out or stay in. [Siver's strikes] are not really effective if I'm in close, taking him down. It's not very effective if I'm out of his reach. Just don't let him dictate the pace.

"I'm coming to win. No more playing around seeing what he has. [Expletive] that. I'm here to show you what I've got, and that's what I'm going to do."

Cerrone vs Siver will be joining Tyson Griffin vs Brat Palaszewski on the preliminary card that will air on Spike TV this coming Saturday Oct. 29 starting at 9 p.m. ET

Cro Cop vs Roy Nelson Preview, Did he really say that?

"When I decide I'll stop fighting, I'll say it loud and clear," Cro Cop.

Mirko Cro Cop
"I lost two in a row, and if I lose (at UFC 137), I'll be the unhappiest person on the planet," Cro Cop said. "To lose three times in a row will be a disaster for me, but even if that happens, I'll survive. I have two kids. I have to live for them. But it'll be a disaster."

That's what Cro Cop feels going into his match up coming this Saturday against Roy Nelson.

Both fighters are coming off of two straight losses and there is a good chance that the UFC will send either Nelson or Cro Cop packing after a third loss in a row.

Cro Cop (27-9-2), is now a modest 4-5 in the UFC and even though the legend has nothing really to feel bad about if he left the sport today Cro Cop believes that another loss will only add to the retirement speculation that has surrounded the former Pride superstar since suffering a KO loss to Frank Mir at UFC 119 and his most recent KO loss to Brendan Schaub at UFC 128.

Nelson (15-6) is now 2-2 in the UFC and has faced some top talent in the heavyweight division holding KO victories over Stefan Struve and Brendan Schaub.

Nelson has back to back decision losses to Junior Dos Santos (which he was totally outmatched) and most recently Frank Mir at UFC 130.

UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub

Apparently Fabricio Werdum took offense to Schaubs response during an interview for the Undisputed video game Schaub attending in Los Angeles.

"I don't really care. To fight a guy like Werdum would be great. Me mentioning his name is nothing disrespectful at all. I've got nothing but respect for him," UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub said. "I think he's ranked number five in the world and he's one of the biggest names out there. That's why I brought his name up, and I think he'd be one hell of a challenge for me. Tell me where to sign."

In an interview with mmafighting.com Schaub describes the Undisputed interview as about as common as they come. The question everyone seems to ask every fighters after their bout is who they think the next fight for them should be.

ITS TIME! Penn vs. Diaz

UFC 137 Main Event Preview

DISCLAIMER:  "I will do my best to make this as unbiased as I can for any and all regular readers who must know by now that I do not enjoy Nick Diaz."

The ugly truth: Diaz poses a threat to Penn.

Nick Diaz arguably has several advantages going into this fight including, reach, quickness on the ground, endurance, and if you believe in it "under-dog strength".

With his long reach it would seem very likely that his game plan will be to keep "The Prodigy" at a distance and pick him apart one round at a time.

2011 World Mixed Martial Arts Awards, Hosted by Sonnen

One more example of how talking can take you places

It's amazing, yet not surprising, how much attention Chael Sonnen gets considering he's fought once over the last year.

He's proven time and time again that he can work the camera and the crowd, so it's no surprise that he's hosting the 2011 World Mixed Martial Arts Awards by Fighters Only magazine.

I wasn't aware of this awards show before, so I checked out the website and found the award criteria. Fighters are given awards based on a fan vote.

So rather than wait for the actual results, I'm going to run down the awards list and give my choice in each category that I care about.

I'll be providing the best answer that happens to pop into my head, so if I forget a really important fighter or fight, I'm sorry and get over it.

And of course, this doesn't pertain to any events after today.

Tavares out of UFC 137, Who steps in?

Brad Tavares has pulled out of UFC 137 due to injury

Jeff Curran
Since UFC welterweight champion George St. Pierre withdrew from his bout against Carlos Condit at UFC 137 it has been a merry-go-round feeling to the card considering the UFC has had to continue to make changes to the event based on multiple fighter injuries.

Brad Tavares (7-1) was set to take on Dustin Jacoby (6-0) at UFC 137 originally on the prelims. After GSP was injured the Tavares vs. Jacoby fight was moved up to main card status.

Tavares has since injured himself and the UFC has yet to release the type or extent of the injury.

UFC newcomer Clifford Starks (7-0) has since been signed to take the Jacoby fight and replace Tavares in the bout which has now been placed back on the prelims.

Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran will now move up to the main card to take the place of the Tavares vs. Jacoby bout.

Real Steel lacks any "Real Quality"

SPOILER ALERT!!!
(MY OPINION OF REAL STEEL, AND BEWARE: I REALLY DON'T LIKE IT MUCH)

On the horn:
Johnny Waugh

Rockem Sockem robots the game is actually much more worth your time and investment than Real Steel the film because at least you can break it after your done and use the pieces to impale the person who took you to watch this steaming pile of hydraulic robot fecal matter that is Real Steel in the first place.

Trying to put a spoon through your nostril is most likely getting you closer to a higher level of brain function than the time spent watching the multi million dollar shiny tin can of a motion picture, "Real Steel."

Watching the movie unfortunately causes a certain decrease in the ability to feel like the director, Shawn Levy, finds us to be moderately intelligent beings at all according to a possibly leading robot boxing movie critic Johnny Waugh (me).

Why would we be an intelligent audience when we could pay Hugh Jackman to remind us of how to be a "Real" father and sell your child away to pay for the drinking habit that obviously needs to be involved with A&E's show Intervention .

It would probably be a more inspiring story to see Jackman overcome his addiction and get over his failures as a business man than to watch a father who realizes his son is better at video games than he is, which is all the movie has, semi controlled robots who know what to do sometimes and are absolutely idiotic the next.

The main reasons why this movie is completely moronic beyond many measures of what it means to be a moron are as follows:
