The MMA Gods Listen to Schroe!

When I wrote that Brain Stann should be fed more seasoned fighters to give him the challenges he needs for a run at the Middleweight Title, the Gods were listening

UFC 136 in Houston Texas has me so excited! However, one fight on this card has me drooling with anticipation even more than the two title fights: Aldo vs. Florian(Featherweight) and Edgar vs. Maynard(Lightweight).

That fight is Chael Sonnen Vs. Brian Stann. Why is this fight so important to me you ask? Its what the future result of this fight that has me so excited.

Chael Sonnen is the only fighter that can say "I dominated Anderson Silva for four straight rounds." Should Sonnen win in Houston I believe he may be given another chance to get in the ring with Silva right away.

The third part in this stellar series

Frankie Edgar (left),  Gray Maynard (Right) face off.
Lightweight Champion Frankie "The Answer" Edgar and number one contender Gray "The Bully" Maynard finally finish their business at UFC 136 this weekend on Saturday Oct. 8 on pay per view.

Edgar lost the first match up between these two in April on 2008 by unanimous decision. Most recently the two fought to a draw at UFC 125 in which Edgar sustained huge first round damage and came close to being finished multiple times, only to come back and put on a performance that put many in awe when he out struck Maynard and arguably won the last four rounds of that title fight.

Kenny Florian (Facing the camera) fighting Clay Guida at UFC 107

Always a top contender, never a champion; that's the Florian story. Throughout his career, he's gradually dropped weight classes and challenged the best in each, only to become defeated.

He's dropped from middleweight to welterweight after his loss to Diego Sanchez on The Ultimate Fighter 1 finale in 2005.

In 2006, he went down to lightweight to defeat Sam Stout, only to lose the contest for the vacant title against Sean Sherk.

Dominick Cruz (black trunks) suplexes Demetrious Johnson (white trunks) at UFC Live 6
The Banatamweight champion Dominick Cruz was once again succesful in defending his title by being the "bigger" man in the muscle department.

Cruz used his size to smother Demetrious Johnson against the cage and power him down to the ground to take away was you might say was a speed disadvantage for the champion.

Mac Danzig (facing the camera) tries to sink in a choke on Matt Wiman (Blue trunks)
Going the distance and fighting all the way, Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman put on a hell of a show on October 1st.

It took 2:49 seconds into the first round for Anthony "Rumble" Johnson (10-3) to finish Charlie Brenneman at UFC on Versus Live last night. Al beit a clearly early stoppage.

Mario Yamasaki had a great angle on the kick that finished the night for Brenneman. The only problem was that Yamasaki had a horrible angle on Brenneman after the kick landed.

Pat Barry (bottom) slamming Stefan Struve (top holding onto Barry) at UFC on Versus 6
The match up of the smallest heavyweight, Barry at 5'11'', taking on the tallest, Struve at 6'11'', had everyone talking as soon as it was announced.

With Struve's epic reach advantage it certainly seemed that he could have been throwing and landing strikes right from the start. The main reason he wasn't was Pat Barry's strength.
