Alan Belcher

The main fight card started off great with a match between Alan Belcher and Jason MacDonald.
Belcher came out pushing the pace early and MacDonald quickly made it known that he did not want to stand with "The Talent".

MacDonald went in for a take down attempt early in the round however, he was unsuccessful. Jason put Alan against the cage and began forcing the issue of getting Belcher on the ground. In a move he would soon regret MacDonald pulled guard. After that it was all over.

Belcher brought the pain, raining down accurate fist and devastating elbows. MacDonald had a few short moments of attempting submissions from the bottom but it was futile against Belcher's ground and pound.

Very nice win Belcher but seriously dude, with all that down time from the injury couldn't you have fixed that stupid Johnny Cash tattoo?

Next up: Jonathan Brookins Vs. Eric Koch.

This one was a tough one to judge. After three rounds the decision was given to Koch and the reason seemingly was that when Brookins had Koch against the cage, which was often, he was not causing any damage.

One thing is for sure, this fight did not deserve the rain of boos coming in from the crowd. Oh well, I guess MMA fans still have not learned that there is much more to the sport than standing and striking.

Next Up: Court McGee Vs. Dongi Yang

NICK DIAZ
So like I said, if and when Nick Diaz made comments on why he had back-to-back no shows to press conferences in Toronto and Las Vegas that we would have to pull out the umbrellas to shield us from the down pour of bullsh**, Well break em' out kids!

From an interview with Nick Diaz by MMA Junkie-

"I didn't even know there was a press conference. I thought it was some PR thing. People were trying
to tell me, 'You're going to do this skit' and I was going to be apart of some PR skit where I had this part where I was walking through a hall, kind of like that scene Jake Shields did. I was like, 'What the fuck? Are you kidding?' "

Jake Shields

Jake Shields' most recent fight against welterweight George St. Pierre broke his 15-fight win streak, but to be honest, GSP hasn't lost since 2007 and not many people thought he would lose the title then. Still, Shields holds impressive wins over Martin Kampman, Dan Henderson, and Robbie Lawler.

Bisping is annoyed by "Mayhem" Miller

Michael "The Count" Bisping wants to kill "Mayhem" Miller

Michael "The Count" Bisping, coaching opposite of Jason "Mayhem" Miller on The Ultimate Fighter 14, has decided that he doesn't like the guy.
Michael "The Count" Bisping

After learning that he wouldn't be coaching against, and thereby fighting, Chael Sonnen, Bisping was disappointed.

A win against Chael would likely mean a title shot, as Chael has recently fought Anderson Silva at UFC 117.

A win against Miller doesn't hold that connotation, but as Bisping said, "It wasn't meant to be."
Bisping continued, "I've got to fight Miller. I've got an obligation now."

However, Mayhem might have given The Count a change of heart.

We obviously won't see the drama between the two fighters until the show airs, but Bisping summed it up quite succinctly: "At the start of the season, I thought he was an OK guy.

Steward seems to believe that Ortiz can give Mayweather more problems than people think in this Saturdays bout between the two Welterweight stars. He was quoted as saying "Ortiz' size, blistering pace, and youth" will be the defining factors if used to his advantage.

Josh Barnett (Left) Sergei Kharitonov (Right)

At the Strikeforce Grand Prix semi-final, Josh Barnett dealt with the powerful striking of Russian heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov to pull out a huge victory to move him into the Grand Prix Final against unbeaten (9-0) Daniel Cormier.

Sergei Kharitonov came out with guns blazing against the "The Warmaster." Kharitonov moved forward in his patented  manner and stalked Barnett while landing some very big shots on the former "Baby Face" which obvoiusly concerned Barnett. Barnett looked like the powerful punches from Kharitonov forced him to move in for the take down faster than he had anticipated.

Cavalcante wins the fight he was supposed to, nothing more or less

Rafael Cavalcante defeated Romero at 4:51 in round two by KO

Rafael Cavalcante

I am not exactly sure what Strikeforce was looking for in this match up.

Yes, Cavalcante is coming off of a KO loss to Dan "Hendo" Henderson, but were they trying to give him a nothing fight to come back or something?

This was not even an even match up in any way. Yoel Romero was 4-0  coming into this fight against a former champion who had the title just one fight previous to this one.

If you do not believe that this was a nothing fight then please note that Romero landed absolutely no strikes at all in the first round. You would be hard pressed to find a shot that truly landed against Cavalcante.

That is most likely because he rarely threw any. The first shot that Romero actually landed was in the second round and it was an illegal low blow.

The man from Santa Cruz brought the Strikeforce Middleweight title back to California.

Luke Rockhold was coming off of a nineteen month layoff before entering the cage last night for his chance at the belt.

Which makes it that much more impressive that the fighter who never had a fight go the distance,  more or less a round, until his decisive decision victory over the five time world brazilian jui jitsu champion Jacare.

Sonnen Chimes in on Jones/Rampage Spygate

UFC Middleweight Chael Sonnen

Man, it's so easy to write a piece about an interview with master "sh*twright" Chael Sonnen. Classic quotes just pour out of the guy. For example, when asked about the Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's spying allegations aimed at Jon Jones, he said that Rampage is "a cry-baby at all times."

He goes on to say that this is how Rampage gets into his frame of mind for the fight, that he must feel like the victim in order to perform. As much sh*t as he gives Rampage for whining, he still considers him "as ruthless and devastatingly successful as anybody the sport's ever seen."
